Annatto seeds

Seeds of the achiote tree (Bixa orellana)

Annato Seed is the raw form of achiote, a spice used for it's rich colour and somewhat nutty flavour.

Grind in a mortar and pestle and soak into a bit of vegetable oil. Great with pork, chicken or corn dishes.
